VS Oceania Services

VS Oceania is a student exchange organisation registered by the Education

Department.

VS Oceania offers quality, educationally-orientated exchange programs at an

affordable price.

VS Oceania employs full and part time staff in its head office and part time people

in the field.

All staff have a genuine interest in helping young people succeed and grow.

The professional backgrounds of staff cover education, business, public relations,

marketing, training and language study.

These varied backgrounds combine to provide the knowledge, structure and

support so necessary in ensuring a successful experience.

A professional staff who believe in the principles and benefits of student exchange.

All head office staff are experienced internationally - they have lived and worked

overseas, their children have participated in exchange programs and they

themselves have hosted international students.

School Visit Coordination

We coordinate cultural exchange visits by groups (1 to 3 weeks duration)

Japan to NSW schools.

The participants are high school students.  VS Oceana has extensive

experience in this area and can be flexible to suit the individual needs

of the school and the Japanese guest(s).

Guardianship Services

We act as a guardian for Japanese   High School students assisting them with

school ,  homestay placement, local advise and counselling etc.

We maintain good communication with students, host families and schools for

the duration of the students’ stay.

Homestay Placement Service

We aim to place our clients with a family that best suits their needs.

Family numbers, pets, interests and location are all taken into account

when placing a student.

We provide a 24 hour, bilingual support service for our Japanese clients

and host families.

Outbound Tours to Japan

VS Oceania can liaise with Japan to organise group study tours

to Japan.

In conjunction with the local school, we can arrange the itinerary

including school visits, sightseeing and homestay with a Japanese family.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to put the Japanese that they

are learning at school into practise.

Communication Services

Language barriers create breakdowns in communication.

Our interpreters will interpret anything from everyday conversation to

business negotiations.

In addition, VS Oceania has a professional secretarial translation service

for translating letters and documents from Japanese to English and vice versa.

SHORT TERM GROUPS

Every year VS Oceania is pleased to welcome a large number of students on our

program to Australia.

Students from Japan arrive at various times during the year.

Hosting a short-term student can be a very rewarding experience and it is a

wonderful way to learn about another country, culture and language, whilst

sharing our own Australian way of life.

Most of the students who come to Australia participate in a short term program

of about  5 to 21 days.

For  part of their stay, the students attend high school with their host brothers

or sisters.

VS Oceania liaises with the schools in order to gain permission for the

students to attend.

Sometimes the visit of a group coincides with a school holiday period in

Australia so the visiting  students spend some of their time in leisure activities

with the host family.

VS Oceania is interested in families who are flexible and who have a genuine

interest in people of other cultures - their language and customs.

Host families come from all walks of life.

VS Oceania host family in Australia provides an overseas teenager with room

and board in a warm supportive home.

Host families are  paid for hosting and the exchange student  is required  to bring

enough money with them to cover personal spending, outings and incidentals.

Hosting Routine

A network of overseas coordinators   provide teachers, students and parents

with program information, departure preparation and Australian contacts.

Fifteen or more students are accompanied on flights by  Japanese

chaperones / teachers.

Upon arrival in Australia, at the airport   students are met  by VS Oceania

coordinators.

VS Oceania coordinators organise local transportation and arrange pick-up points.

Host families pick the students up and drop them off  from these locations.

( Usually the host school )

The coordinators, as well as the teacher-chaperones, stay in touch with the students,

host families and schools during the students' stay and are always available to answer

questions and handle problems should they arise.

If problems are insurmountable, VS Oceania coordinators organise alternative

accommodation for the students.

Students are always covered by a comprehensive medical, liability and emergency

return insurance.
